L. E. FONT (Elliot)
2004 16.1hh Bay TB Gelding owned by Redbud Farm Equestrian, LLC

Elliot is a very special horse. After only 6 starts on the track, he proved to be a terrible race horse and found himself on a truck to Dennis Murphy, a hunter trainer in Alabama. Poor Elliot also wasn't cut out for the hunter ring, so a friend called Betsy and said 'I have your next big horse'. Like a drug deal in the night Elliot was passed from one trailer to the next and an exchange of cash was made. He was lovingly dubbed "Smellie" by our working student, due to the general funk covering his body. The name stuck. He's proved to be a spectacular athlete, although he is also quirky and anyone who knows him also knows he has a lot of opinions.

He ran his first intermediate in 2013, closely followed by the CIC2 at the CHC International at Chattahoochee Hills. There have been ups and downs, but he is worth it. He moves, he gallops, and he's got scope to burn. Such special horses take time.

Calysta MWF (Heidi)
2007 16hh Chestnut Hanoverian Mare owned by Midway Farms, INC

Heidi was bred in Alabama by Meredith and Chris Michelfelder at Midway Farms. She is a Hanoverian mare by Contucci out of Karrena (Kalypso). The mare is a cross country machine. She is a bold with lots of scope and best of all, she loves to play the game. All you have to do is look at her face cross country to know she's in her element.

She ran her first preliminary at the age of 5 and came in 6th at her first international preliminary at 6 years old, the youngest age allowed to compete at the one star level. She ran a full season of intermediate in 2014 and had top 20 finishes in the CIC2 at CHC International at Chattahoochee Hills, CIC2 at Richland Park, and the open intermediate division of the American Eventing Championships.

2005 16.2hh Chestnut Paint Mare owned by Redbud Farm Equestrian, LLC

Zoey has a Cinderella story. She was advertised on Craigslist as a 16.5 paint horse who didn't want to arena race. The gentleman who owned her fed all his horses at the same time from a deep freeze filled with grain. He opened the lid and when he thought they were done, he closed it again. Although Zoey was the biggest horse out there by far, she was also probably lowest on the totem pole. She was originally bought for a student as a project, but it became apparent they were not a match so Redbud Farm purchased her in 2013.

Zoey is a beautiful type with three lovely gates and a powerful jump. She is also straight and brave on a line like few other horses. She has run through the preliminary level and has far from met her potential.

2009 16.2hh Bay TB Gelding owned by Margaret Thompson and Redbud Farm Equestrian, LLC

Ted is one of the sweetest horses we have in the barn. Every day he is happy to see the sun come up and go to work. He has a refreshingly inquisitive attitude and a lot of talent. He can also be a bit of a fire cracker. At his first event, Ted cleared out dressage warm up due to his crazy antics. However, he was also one of only three horses in his division to jump around the cross country without jump penalties. With every ride Ted gets a little more confident and a little more broke. He is a very special combination of exceptionally careful but also brave. He has a very bright future ahead of him.
