About Us

Betsy Ball, resident trainer and owner of Redbud Farm Equestrian, LLC, has a variety of experience within the horse industry. She grew up riding in the Starkville area and showing across the Southeast. A founding member of Whiterock Pony Club, Betsy is a graduate of Magnolia Pony Club. She competed in local hunter/jumper shows.

In her teenage years Betsy developed a passion for eventing. She competed through Training level while in high school then in college moved up to the Preliminary level with horse Cheslyn Lodge, while she was a working student for Bill and Lori Hoos at Wil-lo Blue Farm in Franklin, TN. When "Chez" bowed a tendon, Betsy decided to focus on her dressage. With the help on Jane Manfredi, Betsy and Chez competed at third level.

Through college Betsy was an avid member of the Mississippi State University Equestrian team, competing on the IHSA circuit. Betsy now teaches many of the MSU Equestrian Team members. Also a member of the MSU Horsemans' Association, she held positions including Vice-President and Organizer of the first Horseman's Association AQHA show. Betsy graduated from MSU with a B.A. in Communication, with a double emphasis in Public Relations and Journalism.

In 2004 Betsy and local architect Bill Mann founded Redbud Farm in Starkville, MS to give equestrians the opportunity to further their riding education. Betsy currently has students showing training level in eventing, level 3 jumpers, various hunters and many project horses. Redbud Farm specializes in bringing along young horses and ponies showing in a variety of disciplines. Betsy currently events her horse West Point at the FEI* level and plans to move him up to Intermediate this Spring. In addition to West Point, Betsy always has a promising string of youngsters coming up the levels in eventing, jumpers and hunters.

Redbud and the team heads south for the winter, stabling in Citra, FL, just outside of Ocala. We will be showing the PSJ circuit and eventing throughout the area.
